Approximately one in five Americans color their hair. Unless they have absolutely no gray or white locks, and are altering their natural color by only a shade or so, they will quickly face the dreaded dilemma of “grow-out" - that line of demarcation that indicates to all that it’s been awhile since fresh color was applied. Hair glazes, mascaras, and tinted powder sprays temporarily mask root grow-out, but many consumers prefer a more permanent solution, such as a permanent root dye. L’Oréal Root Rescue is formulated to match hair color that has faded since application; it covers up gray or white strands very quickly and thoroughly, although the product’s odor may bother aroma-sensitive consumers.

How to Use L’Oréal Root Rescue

A package of L’Oréal Root Rescue contains a large bottle of developer with a flat cap, a small plastic jar of color gel, and a special root comb applicator cap that is placed on the large bottle once the product is mixed. The package itself has a small, round, perforated area that may be popped out to hold the developer bottle steady while the color gel is poured in. With the flat plastic cap replaced, the consumer then shakes the developer and gel until they are completely mixed. Remove the flat cap, place the root comb applicator on the bottle, and the product is ready to use.

The hair should be combed as it would be everyday, so that gray or white hair at the temples and part will be exposed as they would when styled as usual. The mixed product is applied to the roots of the hair with the comb, left on ten minutes, and then lathered slightly with some warm water and rinsed thoroughly. The hair should then be shampooed.
