Game 5 of the 2010 ALDS between the Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays will be held October 12th at Tropicana Field. In what could be a pitching match up for the ages, the winner of the game will host the New York Yankees in the ALCS.

Texas won the first two games in Tampa behind the pitching of Cliff Lee and C.J. Wilson. The Rays bailed out Joe Maddon’s decision to use James Shields instead of Matt Garza in game 2 by winning the next two games in Arlington. The series now shifts back to Tampa for the decisive game 5.

Cliff Lee-Texas Rangers

Pitching in possibly his last game for Texas is Cliff Lee. Lee was acquired in a mid-season trade from the Seattle Mariners and will be a free agent once the season is over. It is not clear whether or not he will stay in Texas. Texas would love to keep Lee, but how deeply the Rangers go in the post-season could be a major factor to whether or not he stays.
